Thought From Places: Phillip Island

A few weeks ago during the semester break my friends and I travelled down to Phillip Island for a getaway from university and looming exams. Phillip Island is located in the south of Victoria funnily enough, on its own little island, kind of like New York or is it Manhattan? (my geography skills aren't a strong point). Anyway, we booked a place in Cowes which is sadly the opposite side of the island to all the penguins and tourists but the town itself was so quaint and small it was a nice change to the busy streets of Melbourne.

The beach was a five minute walk from the house and the town was even closer. The town had one main street full of stores mostly owned by local residents and small businesses and the side streets had a few stores that extended beyond the main strip. The week we went down didn't have the best weather, or should I say flash flooding and then sunshine for five minutes and then another flash flooding, so unfortunately we don't have any outside scenery shots to show you how beautiful it was but you can just trust me on this one. The only day we had of complete sunshine was the last day when everyone had left so a few of us before we either jumped on a bus or started the drive back took a short trip to the beach because we were seriously missing the vitamin D and warm sunshine.

While there we obviously had to fend for ourselves so we fancied ourselves as Masterchefs and actually made some really good food. My food highlight was definitely Ellie's pavlova, there are no words to describe how good that was. I've only had pavlova twice in my life just because I'm too lazy to make or buy it but holy cheezus that was good!

We cheated the last night and went to a pub. Niki's chowing down on some kind of beef burger that was bigger than her head.

The trip was filled with antics that involved a bit of drinking each night (we're all over 18 years old and did it responsibly so don't worry) and though I can't describe the details of everything that happened I can assure you we had a marvellous time and can't wait for our next road trip together! I'll leave you with some photos and your imagination to picture the convoluted things we got up to.
