A NEW BEGINNING.

So looking at my archive, I've been a bit shit at this blogging thing. I do actually really want to keep this thing going but everything got a bit hectic last year and I bit off more than I can chew. That being said, I can already see this year being even more busy but of new commitments I've promised myself to.

I'm restarting this blog! I want to commit myself to a schedule (honestly sort out your life katie) and I want to revamp this old mobile home. My plan right now is starting March, I'll be posting something every weekday. That's right, one post everyday, monday to friday! Of course each day will be different, you won't just be bombarded with five makeup posts, so I've decided to theme each day:

Makeup Monday
Where I post a fotd/fotn, reviews and routines.

TMI Tuesday
I make a personal post, so whether that be advice on ANYTHING! Need help with family or friends? Need help with school? I'll hopefully be able to offer something to the table.

Weekly Round-up Wednesday
I'll make a post about all that I've gotten up to in the past week (just in case my life is especially boring that week).

Miscellaneous Thursday
The only non-alliteration, I've failed my family. Basically I find something that's happened in the past week and discuss it. Or if I manage to pick up a book, I'll do a book review, or even a thoughts from places. The options are ENDLESS!

Freaky Friday ;)
Where I'm going to start posting sexual advice. I'm not in anyway an expert, but I know a thing or two that might be helpful to those who find they are only comfortable having google explain these things. Let me just preface by saying, a doctor or and sexual clinic is your best resource!

That's the plan for now and I'm excited to get started. Hopefully this works out *fingers crossed*

Other life updates, I've decided to stop my YouTube channels. They were getting a bit too much for me and I still love doing makeup and showing people how to do things and creating looks, the editing and filming was too much and I couldn't find time.

That's all for now, hope you guys are excited for the new blog posts and I'll see you all in March!

Judgement.

Since the beginning of June, I decided to make a change in my life and restart. At the beginning of the year I was feeling really uncertain with what I wanted to do with uni, my workplace was closing and I was feeling distant from my friends. When June rolled around and it was time for second semester, I decided to stick with uni and take a few "filler" subjects that I was interested in and eventually I quit my job.

I began the semester with a new outlook. I can't really pinpoint how I got to this, but I had a new found self confidence and was feeling better about my self and body in general. So with that, I was more willing to step out of my comfort zone.

At the beginning I was really enjoying this semester! I met all these new wonderful people who have quickly become some of my best friends, I've gone to more events and basically become very comfortable around uni. That's what I always lacked, feeling like I belonged somewhere at uni whether it was in a club or committee or volunteer group or even in a lecture theatre, I would be self conscious everywhere I went.

During the end of september a few personal things happened that became known to quite a few people. Of course I'm not going to discuss what happened on a public forum, but the situation was quite sensitive to people who didn't know the whole story. Since becoming known to people who did and didn't know me or the situation, I've had quite a bit of backlash and a few comments made about me in passing. With the nature of the situation, there were some double standards about judgement and who to direct it at. I tried to not let it get to me because I had the support of friends and tried to not think about it.

Since all of this, my self confidence has slowly been chipped away. I began feeling a lot more insecure about my body and personality. I always felt eyes on me at events and just wanted to sit in the corner away from people. This is the polar opposite of how I felt only a few weeks ago. People began making comments that normally didn't bother me and pointing out insecurities I had as jokes. I feel like I'm back to square one.

Recently, one of my friends had a chat with me about things people were saying and assuming about me. Furthermore, she commented on my actions which has made me really think some things over. It has reached the point where I'm balancing out keeping friendships vs. what other people think of me and what would be the best for everyone and next year. Unfortunately it's not as simple as one or the other, as the two variables overlap. You can imagine what I'm trying to deal with here. The last thing I want is to give up friendships, but I don't know if I can handle anymore judgement of me.

I never saw myself in this position; where I'd actually let people dictate my life. Never have people's comments had such an impact on me and I just feel like I'm in a fragile state. The fact that I have to rebuild confidence and esteem again, along with sorting out everything above, I'm just really confused about a lot of things. I wish it was a easy as just ignore them and haters gonna hate, but these are people I have to interact and work with next year.

Bit of a personal post and I may remove this later but just had to write it down somewhere. I hope your lives are going better and if you are in a situation where people are getting you down, say fuck them and carry on!

BASTILLE CONCERT 2014: The Melbourne Show!

After falling in love with the band in the past year and then hearing about a Melbourne show in mid December last year I was jumping to go. Unfortunately with no friends who liked the band I was too scared to go alone. However soon enough Gen had found her way to the light! So in february this year I convinced her and Ellie to come with me to the concert! YAY!

The concert was held at Festival Hall on the 15th of June. We got tickets for the floor so we got to be right up and close to the stage.

Dinner was obviously a quick trip to Nandos in Harbourtown for some chips which we had to stuff in our face as we walked to the venue. But the cool thing was I actually got to see the Melbourne Star up close and personal which I've never done. May just grab some friends and go on one day...

Foxes opened for them and to be honest I had only known of her stuff from collaborating with Fall Out Boy and Zedd so I was eager to hear some of her own stuff. What can I say, she was AMAZING! I loved her outfit and will definitely be checking some of her other stuff out. I really loved Youth! She actually reminds me a bit of Lea Michelle, aside from her looks, but also by just the way she performs and her voice.
Getting excited in the mosh!

Bastille came on soon after that and my word! There are no words for how amazing the show was!

In a photo above you can see a shot of the audience with torches lit up which everyone did during Oblivion and it was amazing to see and the photo really doesn't do it justice. It was just so cool to look around at all the lights.

I did record some footage but I wanted to be in the moment and enjoy it more than worrying about the shot and spend the night seeing it through a phone screen so I don't think it's the most stable, high quality stuff. I'll include a little bit of it in my June vlog and might link to some full song videos.

I'm going through some serious PCD (post concert depression) and am just scrolling through tumblr looking at Dan Smith's beautiful face. I may have also made a cheeky merch purchase so shhh.....

If you haven't checked out any of Bastille's stuff and really love the alternative genre do check them out on Youtube and iTunes!

Hope you enjoy the blog post guys and sorry for being MIA recently :(

If you had the chance, who would you be jumping to see in concert?

Thoughts from Places: Vincentia, NSW

Three hours out of Sydney is a small town with 159.9 fuel prices and literally 17 shops that make a shopping centre, was a little house that was soon going to be my home for the next six days.

The week before uni started again, Niki invited us up to her family beach house that as maybe a five minute walk from the house, I mean you could hear the ocean from the back porch, to spend our last few days of freedom in the only way true blue aussies know how. Like the house we had in St. Leonard's, there wasn't anything tourist-y within walking distance besides the beach so the week was just a relaxation, no hassle, no stress holiday.
We went crazy during the drive up

I drove up with Gen and the drive was around eleven and a half hours including stops. We stopped at Albury and Goulburn for petrol refuelling and food. Gen had some silly tradition that her family does every time they cross the NSW-VIC border which was "good bye victoria... HELLO NEW SOUTH WALES!" which was quite amusing! Also I was kinda shitting myself driving through Goulburn because Gen kept freaking me out with "let's go visit Ivan Milat, my bestie!" (you can google that one).

I probably should tell you how went with us: Me, Gen, Niki, Antony, Richie, Christian and Alex. The seven of us spent the week hanging, swimming, fishing, having a few drinks and marathoning tv shows. I owe Richie my favourite new TV show Archer, but revisited oldies like Community and How I Met Your Mother.

There isn't much more to say besides that it was a week I loved. I rediscovered my love for swimming, even though I have a fear of the ocean, and appreciate my family so much more for not waking me up every morning with music blasting from a wall away.

There aren't many photos because that wasn't in the forefront of our minds but there are a few here and there that'll I'll try and find.

Hope you enjoyed reading and I'll talk to you soon!

Blogger Love Tag

1) What was the first blog you ever came across?
I've been following blogs for a really long time so I can't remember the first one I came across, but I think I'd have to be either Tanya's or Fleur's. I obviously found them through their YouTube channels and they are both still blogs I love the most to this day.

2) Favourite blog reads
3) Best blogging friend
Seeing as the only person I know in person who blogs happens to be one of my best friends, it'd definitely have to be Ellie Borg.

4) Name a blog that enables your purchases
Fleur is such enabler! I really trust her opinion and she isn't afraid to say something sucks.

5) 5 blogs everyone should be reading
6) Favourite way to read blogs
I always read blogs on my computer using Bloglovin' even though I have Bloglovin' on my iPhone, I just find blogs on my computer easier to read. It's the same with writing, I can't write a blog post on my iPad or iPhone.

7) Bloggers that inspire you
In recent times, it'd definitely have to be Tanya because if you don't know, last month she launched her long awaited lipgloss and nail polish collection! It just shows that dedication to things you love and putting in time will eventually allow you to achieve goals. I'm not saying I want to release a makeup collection, but I like that idea of striving for something you want.

8) Favourite blog design/look
Either Zoe's blog or Lousie's because every time I click on to their page, I love the cute pastel and bright colours that it makes me happy!

9) What's your favourite thing about blogging
It's a toss up between hearing all the new products and hearing different people's opinion because everyone has different qualities about them so this product may not work for this person but may be a holy grail to someone else just because of the skin type they have etc. I hope that made sense…
But the other thing is that I can post whatever I feel like, I feel quite restricted on other social platforms to post something personal, or my opinion about something without backlash or people thinking I'm an attention whore or a 140 character limit.

10) Name a blogger you would most like to see write a book in the future!
Probably Estee in conjunction with her boyfriend Aslan because I love their vlogs and Aslan has random insights to the most random things but he knows what he's talking about and just their chemistry is amazing so I'd love to read what they'd produce.

That's it for the tag, I want all of you who read this to give it a go!
Just copy and paste the questions because I'd love to find out who you guys love.

That's it for now,
Katie xox

Face of the Day! 28th of January 2014

Photo taken Jan 2014
Photo taken Jan 2014

Hey guys! Today was just a relaxed day at home, I was going to film a video so I decided to put some makeup. I actually really loved how it turned out because it was just simple but I used quite muted cool tones on my cheeks and lips so it was a change.

My other motivate as to why I put makeup on is so that I wouldn't touch and pick at the healing blemishes on my face (yes I actually find putting makeup on my face helps with healing pimples, obviously don't wear tons when the pimple is still active!) so after one or two days, the pimples will have vanished with only smooth skin and a tiny scar is left.

Ok off topic, that happens a lot, on to the makeup on my face:

Products Used:
  • Benefit 15 Hour Stay Flawless Primer
  • Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 103 True Ivory
  • Benefit Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation in Petal, mixing both foundations half/half (it turned out to be a bit yellow for my skin)
  • Maybelline Coverstick in Medium Beige
  • Hourglass Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette
  • Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Espresso
  • NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
  • Stila in the Light Palette: Kitten on the lid and inner corner, Bliss through the crease, Bare on the brow bone and Gilded Gold on the outer third and lower lash line
  • NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliner in Via Veneto, tight line and water line the whole way
  • L'Oreal Perfect Slim Super Liner
  • Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara
  • Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara
  • Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Fair
  • Hourglass Ambient Light Setting Powder in Luminous Light
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer
  • MAC Plum Foolery Blush
  • Rimmel Kate Moss Long Lasting Lipstick in 19
  • Urban Decay Chill Setting Spray
My hair is just a fishtail on the side with a twist at the base of the plait and the top I'm wearing is a plain dancer tee from Cotton On Active.

If you guys would like a tutorial on it I'm more than happy to do it just let me know! In person the blush is a bit more visible, it actually matches the shade of the lipstick quite well. If you want to check out the makeup in action you can watch the video of my face here.

Anyway I'll talk to you guys next time :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR | New Year's Eve and Resolutions

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

It's 2014! How did this happen? I wasn't ready to let 2013 go because it was such a good year but now it's time to make this one even better. I can't really point out what was the best and worst thing to happy to me in the past year but trust me when I say it's probably been one of the best yet.

What were you doing when the countdown started? I was with my bestests and closest friends celebrating Zhen's birthday which fell on the 31st. He decided to have a lovely picnic along the Yarra river before night fell and then watching fireworks go off.

With a new year comes new goals and resolutions. I normally don't make any because if I want to change something about my life I just do it and don't really wait for a date to make it happen. But I do have two new things that in the last few days I've decided I'm going to start doing so it kind of matches up.

First is the keep a diary. It doesn't necessarily have to be a "dear diary" thing but everyday I write something that happened to me, or stick a photo in to the book I bought for this purpose or if I find something funny in a newspaper, you get the gist.

The second is to go running at least once a week. I've really slacked on my fitness and to get back into shape for the trip away to Sydney that my friends are I are doing (don't worry, I'll give you guys details later) I want to look fierce and a little less wobbly.

I hope you guys liked the photos and very soon I'll be doing a recap of 2013 because as I said it was one of my favourite years yet!

Talk soon!
