As this was my third time I would leave
home to go on a road trip with friends I was beginning to think that maybe it meant that I was ready to move out of home? Or at least thinking of being more independent of home. I seemed to love packing and preparing myself for a trip and stay away with friends. I loved waking every morning to friends' faces and laughs from the lounge room (also the sweet smell of breakfast being made). But the thing I loved the most was having everyone I loved, aside from family, in the same room.
The week was filled with drinking games and.... well more drinking games (drink responsibly kids!), bon fires, family breakfast, lunch and dinners, fake tattoos and video games. Time seem to either past so quickly that nothing was accomplished or time dragged so long that it felt like we were living in a time vortex.
However of course the week had to come to an end. As I was driving home I was reminiscing about everything we did that past week and knew I'd miss the freedom and fun we had down there (does that sound really suss or is that just me?) Ok, head out of the gutter. But as I pulled into my driveway at home, greeted my cats and dumped all my clothes into the washing machine and climbed into my own bed (THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO SHARE AND RISK BEING PUSHED OUT OF THANK YOU VERY MUCH ELEANOR BORG) I was so grateful to be home.
I know that home is where the heart is, and of course nothing beats having wifi and reception, so instead of wishing to be out with friends all the time, I'm going to cherish the time spent down in St. Leonard's and will be quickly planning another trip.

P.S. The person I'm definitely going to miss most is our other guest, Terry.
Don't ask.
